Combine countries or seperate all of us.
Now this really busts my buttons.
Why does japan get its own server and korea gets its own server and it looks like taiwan is getting their own server too? this is bs.
I mean we have like 5x their population YET we are stuck in with canada (nothing against canadians, im part canadian anyways).
The worst is that EVERY european country is just put in a "europe" server.
I understand Anet may be something of an asian company but this is just complete asian bias.
I say either combine all the asian contries into an "asian" server. Same goes with rest of euro countries and the americas.
Or make EVERY country its own server. United states server, Canada server........ UK server, france server, etc.
Why is the western world getting the short end of the stick? huh?
I swear they need someone to answer these questions a lot, gaile grey I have not seen in forever.
you got 2 choices. Either combine the asian countries. Therefore we have a healthy competition between americas, europe, and asia going for favor.
Or you can make everyone seperate and make everyone go for uber builds for their one single country to get favor.
And how things already are, you have to win 5 times consecutively to gain favor, if you lose once or if another country wins, that is reset to five
CAN YOU IMAGINE HOW LONG IT WOULD TAKE TO TAKE AWAY FAVOR WITH ALL THESE COUNTRIES GOING FOR FAVOR?! United states would win like 3, then all the sudden canada wins 2, then korea wins 1, then japan, then taiwan, etc. And whoever had favor to begin with still has it because of that!

Then again, asians have a reputation for owning in online games... *cough* korea *cough* , and combine all of them together and we have an unstoppable force against us. We'd get our arses handed to us if they seperated us all too, even an australian server...

Well, they don't speak the same language, so why should they be lumped onto one server? I believe the European server(s) have different language districts. Not sure, since I haven't gone over there to look.

European servers have English, French, Spanish and German districts I believe.. So why not make an Asian Server with Korean, Taiwanese and Japanese districts?

The reason is complicated in the fact of the history between those Asian countries listed.
Japan is still dislike by those countries for what they did in WWII to the other countries.
Korea is also dislike by China and Japan.
China and Taiwan have a situation of Taiwan being a province of China and Taiwan saying they are there own country.
All this leads to if all the Asian countries on the same server will make to arguements and racist comments against each other which I do wish to see.
European countries are friendly towards each other so it's easy to put them on the same server which is the same for the American server. You still see discussion on politics on all servers though.

I'm on the American Server but live in Australia, and I really don't mind.
More people online means finding parties will be easier when Guildies arn't always available to help.
The only Top Ranking Aussie Guild I know of is We Are The Force (WtF) who are around #200+
If we had our own server i'd probably never get to go to UW of FoW.
I think the countries like Japan, Taiwan and China get their own servers because of the language difference. I know Europe is split into different districts but French, German, English basically use the same 'characters'. Japanese Hiragana (or is it Katakana) is different to the symbols used in Mandarin.
I also think it's worth investing in a server for those countries because they have the playing population to support it.
Gaile Gray has stated on ANZGW that investing in an Australasian server (Australia, New Zealand, Phillipines, Indonesia, Malayasia, Singapore) probably isn't worth the costs.
I guess that doesn't really explain Canada's situation, not sure how many people play GW over there.

China has actually threatened to use nuclear weapons against Taiwan for that.
I can just imagine it now, a Chinese team of Ele's "nuking" a Taiwanese team. Yeah. You know, blast me for being a twisted morbid bastard, but on some level that's funny.
I say let A-net do whatever they choose, as long as the game is still as awesome as it is now (minus the crap from the farming and whatnot... Factions FTW!).

Japanese use Hiragana, Katakana AND Kanji. They have 3 different writing systems in use, higarana for 'Japanese' words, katakana for 'foreign' words and kanji for 'Chinese' words. I'd assume Chinese and Japanese kanji letters are more or less the same.. I haven't studied all that much in to Chinese writing system tho.

Interesting...
I think this is really the problem Anet will try to tackle in Chapter 2, by having only 2 factions and the choice open between either. No more fighting between different continents and different countries that perhaps bring out their better abilities than others. Only two sides, and more equally distributed in ability. I don't know what will happen to Chapter 1 as regards to this issue but Chapter 2 will be different.

Forget about the skill level for a minute.
China has over a damn billion people. A sixth of the world population in one nation. Sure, it's unlikely they'll ever get the game, what with being oppressed and all. Furthermore, the vast majority of those billion plus are too poor to get the game, let alone a networked computer to play it on.
On the off-chance that they do ever get it, however, if there is a Southeast Asia district, they will obviously have to be included.
Everybody gets zerged.
I'd prefer that Anet play it safe.
PS: Oh, hey, welcome to the world, you guys. Y'all should know that this is why the US, so bent on freeing oppressed people by shooting the oppression right out of them, has never even looked at China cross-eyed all these many decades. It just wouldn't work. I felt like tossin' that in, is all.
